DoP - Harp Seals - "Cold"
Second Camera - Galapagos Sharks & Sealions - "Water"
A unique production honing in on the specifics of just one classification of nature, Mammals. 20 years since 'Life of Mammals' was released, this show offered some huge leaps of new insight into the warm blooded creatures on earth both scientifically and cinematically.
I was lucky enough to venture for the second time to the Greenlandic West Ice to record the incredibly short & inaccessible weaning cycle of the astoundingly cute harp seal. Fighting bouts of covid, and working a tight schedule around the scientists we shared a boat with, AND losing half our crew (safely back to land) due to huge storms, we managed to record some unique and intimate behaviour in one of the most dangerous places for a pup to grow up!
Keeping it pinniped, I also went to the Galapagos to shoot gimbal & some custom pole-cam aerials (due to ecosystem sensitive drone restrictions) for another story about the dangers of growing up a marine mammal, this time in shark infested waters!
